Our Honey Badgers traveled to Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA to compete in Women’s ACC Round 1. The A Division team Ella Reinemann ‘23 and Ellie Murphy ‘24 started the regatta with a bang, getting a 4th in a fleet of 17 FJs. In light (2-6 knots from the South) and shifty conditions, they continued to sail well, along with B Division Sophie Lusty ‘24 and Elisabeth Johanson ‘22 who finished day 1 with their best race result with a 7th place. Day 2 had stronger breeze around 6-10 knots sustained from the South again, and the Honey Badgers used it to their advantage, having a great finish to the regatta. At the end, our A Division sailors placed 14 out of 17 in their division, B Division placed 17 out of 17, which combined for a overall finish of 17 out of 17. Although the conditions were very tricky and the fleet was competitive, they progressed throughout the regatta, learned a lot, and are excited/hopeful for the next round of Women ACCs!
